About Us

Your Draft Beer Experts

Our goal at The Funk Busters is simple: We help you make more money on draft product. We ensure that your customers never experience degradation in flavor, aroma, or presentation of the draft beer you serve. A clean, well-maintained draft beer system directly drives profitability.

Bethany and Greer met while they were making a living brewing beer down the street from one another. They shared grain and hops back and forth, and eventually shared visions of creating a draft line cleaning company focused on premium, quality service.

After many years of being on the brew deck, Bethany and Greer decided to put down the mash paddle and tap into (pun intended) the art of draft system maintenance. With a concrete foundation built on knowing beer from the inside out, we created a company rooted in passion, expertise and care.

Greer Hubbard (he/him)

Co-Owner

Greer spent many years building out interiors of yachts before realizing his passion for brewing. He has an extensive background in home brewing and professional brewing alike, and his beer has won many medals. He likes gardening and growing spicy rare peppers, which he ferments and makes into hot sauce for a fun party trick.

Bethany Carlsen (she/her)

Co-Owner

Bethany graduated from Western Washington University and spent over a decade in the professional brewing industry. She is an active National level BJCP judge and can smell Diacetyl from a mile away. She likes rollerblading on the waterfront to funk music, line dancing, and co-hosting Grit and Grain, a beer podcast.

Jim Shoemake (he/him)

Draft Technician

Originally from Oakland, California, Jim Shoemake moved to Tacoma a decade ago and has since become a skilled brewer with experience at North 47, Wingman, and Gig Harbor Brewing. A five-time Washington State Beer Award medalist—including two golds—Jim brings passion and precision to every batch he brews. When he’s not crafting award-winning beer, you’ll find him snowboarding, hiking, or camping in the Pacific Northwest.

Stacey O’Connor (she/her)

Draft Technician

Stacey has been working with craft beer for a decade in the Olympia area. Currently she is a draft line technician for The Funkbusters and takes care of Thurston and northern Lewis County. Stacey also works with South Puget Sound Community College as an adjunct professor with their Craft Brewing and Distilling Program teaching classes about craft beer and the industry. In her spare time she loves spending time with her family, her goats, reading, and watching copious amounts of anime.
